What about the social outlook of the immigrants?
According to the Metro only 33 % knew how to register with a doctor and 54% had received information about their conditional immigration. Housing also appears to be an issue with 44% of those questioned were living in one room with somebody else other than their partner.
What are these migrants doing vocationally?
According to the Metro, in a different article, the agriculture sector in the UK is suffering, with the strawberry crop not being pick and therefore is being left to rot in the field. So where are the immigrants going to work? In my hometown of Wakefield the signs are there, for example, that Poles are starting to open their own shops, like Deli Polski. The success of the Polish immigrants is not going unoticed at home neither, as is show in this story which was carried in the Warsaw Voice.
I'd love to hear your comments on these facts figures and developments....

Meanwhile, The Prague Post reported on the 28th February
"Court decisions over the years have tossed the ownership of St. Vitus, the architectural center point of Prague Castle, back and forth between the two institutions. But a Feb. 16 Supreme Court ruling reversed a lower court's October decision to hand the cathedral keys to the Catholic Church.
Zderčík said he plans to take the issue back to the Czech courts and, as a last resort, would consider going before the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France. He added that it's too early to see how the Supreme Court decision will affect the hundreds of other church properties in the Czech Republic for which legal ownership is still unresolved".
Personally I think the Church should control the Cathedral, with the help from the Government when required. However, it's wrong to intervene in eclessastical matters, in some ways this mirrors almost the purging of churches as happened in England hundreds of years ago!

(Czech News Agency Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Pardubice, East Bohemia, March 3 (CTK) - Some 80 people met in Pardubice today at a protest rally against the stationing of a U.S. radar defence base in the Czech Republic, Jitka Vavrinova from the local police informed CTK. Primarily people who do not live in Pardubice took part in the demonstration, organised by the Food Not Bombs movement, she added. "Local people did not show interest in the demonstration, they did not join it," Vavrinova said, adding that no incidents occurred during the one and a half hour protest. Several similar demonstrations have been staged in the Czech Republic in the past few weeks. Hundreds of opponents met outside the Government Office in Prague on February 13, for instance. The USA would also like to build a missile defence base in Poland that would be interconnected with a radar system placed in the Czech Republic
Overnight two ethnic Albanians have been killed in Kosovo, following a demonstration in Pristina held by around 2,000 people. Ethnic Albanians see political changes not going far enough towards an independent Kosovo. Proposals announced by the United Nations on the 2nd February call for a self governing setup for the country with the minority Serbs gaining a certain amount of control, despite the dominant 90% ethnic Albanian population . The UN has delayed discussions on the proposal unitil February 21.
